SETTLEMENT AND AMOUNT
The table below provides statistical information for successful claims against the Met police by members of the public in the last three financial years and compensation paid. A “successful” claim is one where the claimant was successful in being awarded compensation by the court or the matter was settled by the payment of compensation with or without an admission of liability. The word ‘Settled’ in the below table merely refers to the fact that a payment has been made.
In addition, the table indicates the categories used by the Directorate of Legal Services for claims brought against the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis by members of the public, being Malfeasance, Public Liability and Road Traffic.
