BACKGROUND

Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) on the Met’s website appear to refer interchangeably to “Diversity and Citizen Focus Directorate (DCFD) Advisors” as well as a “Strategic Inclusion & Diversity Unit”.

For example, page 2 of an October 2021 EIA on Domestic Abuse says the person completing the form can seek guidance and support from DCFD Advisors:

While page 2 of 2018 EIA on Strengthening Local Policing says the person completing it can seek support and guidance from the “Strategic Inclusion & Diversity” (STRIDE) team: MPS Domestic Abuse Equality Impact Assessment

QUESTIONS:

Please can you provide the following:
1. An explanation of the difference between the DCFD and STRIDE.
2. A copy of any and all organigrams for the DCFD and STRIDE. If the DCFD has been replaced by another unit which fulfils similar functions, please state the name of this unit also provide an organigram of it.
3. How many DCFD Advisors – or equivalent roles - are there at present?
4. How many staff work within the STRIDE team at present?
5. Please provide a copy of the DCFD Advisors – or equivalent roles - job descriptions.
6. Please provide a copy of the job descriptions of all roles within the STRIDE team.
7. What was the annual budget of the DCFD – or the unit which has replaced it – each year from 2018 to date?
8. What was the annual budget of the STRIDE team each year from 2018 to date?”

Q1 - An explanation of the difference between the DCFD and STRIDE.

The Diversity and Citizen Focus Directorate no longer exists and was disbanded in 2014/15. STRIDE (Strategic Inclusion, Diversity and Engagement) is the branding that the organisation uses for Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) across the organisation. It is the name of the 2021-2025 STRIDE Strategy and also the branding used for a lot of D&I work across the organisation.

Q2 - A copy of any and all organigrams for the DCFD and STRIDE. If the DCFD has been replaced by another unit which fulfils similar functions, please state the name of this unit also provide an organigram of it.

As above, the DCFD no longer exists. There is no organigram for STRIDE because this is a strategy/branding, not a unit.

Q3 - How many DCFD Advisors – or equivalent roles - are there at present?

As above, these roles no longer exist. STRIDE is embedded across the organisation.

Q4 - How many staff work within the STRIDE team at present?

There is no STRIDE team.

Q5 - Please provide a copy of the DCFD Advisors – or equivalent roles - job descriptions.

There is no STRIDE team.

The DCFD did not have a separate, identifiable budget.

Note: The term ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ does exist as the name of a Cost Centre, as does the term ‘Diversity & Inclusion Growth Budget’.

Q8 - What was the annual budget of the STRIDE team each year from 2018 to date?

There is no STRIDE Team.
