Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.21.022447
I note you seek access to the following information:
Please provide the locations of all current LGBT+ Advisors across Greater London or 32 London Boroughs.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The Met’s LGBT+ Adviser role was formally launched at their inaugural training seminar at NSY in October 2019.
The LGBT+ Adviser role was developed as part of the restructure of Frontline Policing and has evolved from the Met’s LGBT Liaison Officer role. Advisers proactively work with London’s LGBT+ communities, partners and stakeholders to prevent crime and encourage active citizenship and build trust and confidence.
We currently have 132 LGBT+ Advisers across many BCUs, businesses and departments. On BCUs, they complement the work of Hate Crime Outcome & Performance Officers, whilst elsewhere they help increase awareness and provide advice and information.
Under the auspices of the Met’s staff support association LGBT+ Network, the role is voluntary and must be carried out in addition to a person’s current position. It is open for all officers and staff, including Specials and volunteers. It is not necessary that an individual identifies as LGBT+ and they are not required to declare their sexuality or gender, including gender identity and expression.
We continue to seek to build on the commitment and expertise amongst our existing cohort of colleagues across BCUs and Commands, along with harnessing offers from new volunteers, who may consider themselves Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and therefore capable of being an LGBT+ Adviser.
There are currently 132 Advisers across entire MPS:
