I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Please could you provide the costs of purchase and maintenance of fleets of rainbow-coloured squad cars for 2020-21.
The MPS does not own or operate any rainbow coloured vehicles, therefore there were no purchase or maintenance cost in F/Y 2020-21.
One MPS vehicle was adapted for the 2019 Pride event (financial year 2019/20). The following costs were incurred: £812.50 (including VAT) – for the design and manufacture of the temporary livery. £300 (no VAT) – for the installation and removal of the temporary livery. This was the first time a MPS vehicle had taken part in Pride.
NB. The Strategic Fleet Board was required to approve the livery change. This is the governance board for the whole MPS fleet, and is chaired by an Assistant Commissioner. The Strategic Fleet Board gave approval for the temporary livery to be added to the vehicle for 4 weeks, 3 before the 2019 Pride event and 1 week afterwards.
In the last three years, only one vehicle was adapted for Pride.
Q2 - The cost of pride polo shirts worn by Police officers, rainbow flags, wrist bands, stickers, epaulettes, and other associated paraphernalia for 2020-21.
I have been informed that the MPS have not purchased any pride related products.
Q3 - The cost of Stonewell subscriptions for the period of 2020-21.
The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) pays £3,000 each year for Stonewall Diversity Champion membership. The Diversity Champions programme is a leading employers' programme for creating inclusive and accepting environments, ensuring all LGBT staff are accepted without exception in the workplace. The MPS is proud to have been a Stonewall Diversity Champion since 2017.
Q4 - Are there similar programmes for race and sex?
I have made a number of enquiries within the MPS and have been advised that there are no similar programmes to Stonewall specifically for race or sex within the MPS.
