Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.22.022641
I note you seek access to the following information:
How long do you keep information on your database about an individual without a conviction?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The MPS are currently auditing all records held on their databases, we are using the NPCC (The National Police Chiefs' Council) Policing standards of Review, retention and disposal alongside the Management of Police Information guidance to administer this and a person without conviction would be considered for deletion only if they meet our criteria of ‘not being of further interest to the police, a risk public safety, our officers and themselves’. We are currently undertaking a large scale review of all our held data and being the UK’s largest police force it will take some time to complete with our legacy data.
However, should a person wish to expedite their information being considered for deletion, they can make an application to the ‘Right to Erasure Team’ within the Data Office at:
MPS - Request for Information about yourself or someone else
This team is dedicated to the purpose of dealing with singular applicants in their aim to remove held information that is no longer of interest to the police.
