How many 'Graphic Designers' are employed by the Metropolitan Police?
The MPS currently has 11 graphic designers employed. There are two graphic designers within the Met’s Directorate of Media & Communication (DMC) and 9 within the Directorate of Forensics. Prior to October 2021, DMC did not employ any.
How much in total has the Met spent on 'Graphic Designers' between February 2019 and February 2022?
The MPS has spent £975,290.57 on graphic designers between February 2019 and January 2022 (February payroll information is not yet collated).
Are you able to give some examples of the type of work 'Graphic Designers' employed by The Met would create - screen savers, poster campaign etc.
Within DMC, these graphic designers produce documentation, products and material for internal communication campaigns, advise on the use of logos and branding on recruitment marketing campaigns and produce crime prevention material across print and online formats.
Within the Directorate of Forensics, the team mainly create presentation packages of evidence, comprising of maps, photographic imagery, CCTV stills, location data etc., for use in the court room by judge, prosecution and defence councils and juries. They also work on organigrams, forms and ad hoc graphic design for internal communications for teams within the Directorate.
