Please note the MPS do not hold the data for the second part of your request. It is worth noting that firearms are utilised in a number of policing roles - both overt and covert - and not necessarily for ‘patrol’.

The data below shows MPS Deployable Authorised Firearms Officers between the ranks of Constable & Chief Inspector - data calculated on 31st December of each calendar year. This data does not include officers who are non-deployable as Firearms officers for any reason including classification issues, sickness, restricted/recuperative duties, complaints/investigation, maternity/paternity leave, or who have voluntarily surrendered their firearms authorisation.
