1) are retired police officers of the rank of Inspector or above are permitted to keep their Police warrant cards after they retire from service?

2) have retired police officers of the rank of inspector or above, in the last 20 years, ever been permitted to keep their warrant cards after they retire from service

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

When an officer leaves the Met, their Met staff pass or police warrant card, regardless of rank or grade is to be handed in to their Line Manager and recorded to the Pass Returns Team and destroyed locally.

No police officer or police staff is to keep their Met staff pass or Officer warrant card.
