Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.22.025251
I note you seek access to the following information:
I would like to know the number of Road Traffic Collisions / incidents with suspect vehicles that Police vehicles within the force have been involved in, and the costs for repairing those vehicles or instances where vehicles have been written off as a result of such collisions.
If possible, these figures to be split per year over the past five financial years where records exist.
CLARIFICATION -
Yes the request is referring to vehicles that have failed to stop for police, or where the Police have decided to tactically follow / intervene for tactical reasons.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Please note that the new police collision database was introduced in 2019 so only figures since then are available and not the 5 financial years as requested.
Please find the results below in answer to this question for the three years shown.
Year (Financial) | 2019/20 | 2020/21 | 2021/22 |
No of collisions/incidents | 234 | 254 | 236 |
For Clarity: Not all “Road Traffic Collisions / incidents” require the vehicle to be repaired therefore it is highly likely that the number of “REPAIRS” is significantly lower than the number of “COLLISIONS/INCIDENTS”. The information provided relates to RTPC (Roads and Transport Policing Command) vehicles ONLY.
