With more than 46,000 officers and staff, the Met is the UK's largest police service. It currently has 25% of the total police budget for England and Wales. We take a lot of care in structuring the organisation to make full use of many different disciplines and skills of our people.
The structure of the Met
Here’s how our personnel are divided up within the various departments of the Met:

The Met comprises five business groups:
Trust and Legitimacy
These are supported by a number of functions providing strategic and transactional services covering Data, Digital and Technology, Communications and Engagement, People and Resources, Strategy and Governance, Legal and Commercial and Finance.
