The Crime Reporting & Investigation Bureau consists of two band E roles:
Telephone and Digital Investigation Unit (TDIU)
Crime Management Services (CMS)
Together, they form a single, dedicated command focussing on crime investigation, a quality victim service, bringing offenders to justice and ethical crime recording.
We will be working across four sites; the TDIU will be based at Hendon, Bow and Lambeth HQ sites, whilst the CMS is based in Sidcup. The service operates between the hours of 7am and 11pm, seven days a week, and is delivered by a dedicated team of officers and staff supported by experienced investigative supervisors and managers.
Nearly 50% of all crime in London is initially investigated remotely by the TDIU and every crime investigation passes through the CMS for initial assessment. Here, we then allocate to secondary investigators, victim contact, updates and reassurance, and ensure that any crime is recorded in compliance with crime recording ethics.
We are looking for great people to join our team as police staff investigators and administrators. You don't need to have done this type of role before, instead life skills and a strong caring ethos are more important than specific qualifications or working experience. You will need to have good communication skills, sound record-keeping, common sense and resilience. Above all, you'll have the desire and drive to undertake excellent initial investigations to identify solvability leads, reassure the victims you deal with, and record crimes with the highest levels of accuracy and integrity.
With the volume of crime you will be asked to investigate, record, assess or update, as well as the levels of high victim care you must provide, the importance of these roles can never be underestimated.
