The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Commercial Function are responsible for delivering end-to-end commercial lifecycle management and supporting the wider business in working with third parties.
The MPS spends about £800 million each year on a diverse range of goods and services and we aim to procure them in the most cost effective and compliant way, while satisfying often urgent operational needs. We proactively manage thirty large complex and operationally critical outsourced service contracts, to ensure that we receive the quality services we are paying for and achieve value for money through the entire life of the contract.

This role is an integral part of commercial services. In 2020, the Met Commercial Function revised its operating model and identified the need for a bolstered Enablement and Performance Team.
In this role, you will lead the Governance, Risk and Compliance work-stream of the Enablement and Performance Team. You will be responsible for many aspects of MPS’s commercial control framework (eg policy, legislation, governance procedures). You will be accountable for analysing, managing and reporting on commercial risk for the MPS’s third party arrangements. You will also play a key role in the wider coordination and ownership of MPS’s IP through commercial arrangements, owning key governance-related relationships (eg with MOPAC), ensuring compliance with all relevant contracts and maintaining knowledge of all rules relating to and impacting commercial activity within MPS.
