Wild Plants

In Britain it is an offence to intentionally uproot any wild plant without the permission of the owner of the land on which the plant is growing. In the case of some rarer species it is also an offence to pick the plants, or to sell them.

There is an illegal trade in protected wild plants in Britain. For example, Bluebells and Snowdrops are dug up from the wild, sometimes on a very large scale, for sale at some unscrupulous garden centres and markets.

Whenever you buy plants make sure that they have been propagated from cultivated stock and not taken from the wild.
