Safer Transport Command

The Right Direction is the Mayor of London's strategy to improve the transport network over the next three years.

This campaign reminds would-be fare evaders on public transport Transport for London's crack down on fare evasion and if you get caught you risk a fine of up to £1000 and a criminal record.

The Safer Transport Command and Transport for London are working together to create an environment where all cyclists and potential cyclists feel safe and secure to enjoy cycling in London.
Cycle security advice

A Cycle Security Plan for public consultation has been published by TfL with partners the British Transport Police, City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police Service.

To prevent yourself becoming a victim of theft do not advertise your valuables, keep them secure and safe at all times.

Top tips for keeping your valuables safe from pickpockets are:

• Keep your valuables out of sight
• Keep your bag zipped up
• Wear your bag on your front
• Keep your phone and wallet in an inside pocket of your jacket or deep inside your bag

Reporting

MPS and BTP police officers will robustly investigate all reports of theft.

If you have been a victim of theft report it to a police officer or a member of transport staff immediately.

If you believe your property has been lost report it as a lost item immediately to a member of transport staff who will put you in touch with Lost Property.

Fraudulent reporting

Police would like to remind people falsely reporting a theft is an offence.

This campaign allows passengers to ensure they report any form of suspicious behaviour to the police and/or member of staff on the public transport network.

The Safer Transport Command and Transport for London are supporting the ‘99% campaign’, which attempts to change the public perception that all young Londoners are involved in serious youth violence. It also sets out to build a positive image and present the idea that the 1 per cent of young Londoners can be helped to turn their lives around with help from the community.
