London's diverse communities

The Metropolitan Police Service is taking action to reassure members of London’s diverse communities who have expressed concerns that they might become targets of an ill-informed backlash in the wake of recent events. The Commissioner has stated that the Metropolitan Police Service will be robust in dealing with hate crime.

The Metropolitan Police Service works together with London’s diverse communities to prevent and combat terrorism, to encourage and facilitate communications between communities and partner organisations, and to reassure Londoners.

Communities Together

The Metropolitan Police Service recognises communities across London may well feel vulnerable, confused and angry when individuals use the terrorist incidents as an excuse for behaviour motivated by prejudice or hate. The Metropolitan Police Service is proactive in identifying any tensions developing within or between communities and is committed to tackling hate crime. The Metropolitan Police Service has set up a free 24-hour helpline which offers advice and support to anyone who feels vulnerable or isolated. You can contact the helpline on 0800 028 2390.
