The threat from terrorism is real and serious and we have seen that terrorists can strike at any time and any place without warning.

Our overriding priority is to keep the public safe, by working together with all our communities.

Policing operations and contingency planning remain under constant review and a wide range of overt and covert tactics will continue to be used in London.

We continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and aware and to report any suspicious behaviour which may be terrorist-related to police.

What can I do?

We all have a role to play in keeping London safe. You can help us by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the police.

We don’t believe any call is a waste of time. Let specialist officers decide if the information you have is important.

Hoaxes

Making a bomb hoax is a criminal offence, and detectives from the MPS will take appropriate action where suspect packages or other communications are identified as malicious hoaxes.
