Vision

"To contribute, alongside national and international partners, towards the provision of a safer and more secure cyber environment, in support of the National Cyber Security Strategy, that enhances trust and confidence in the UK as a place to live and conduct business"

Working to a strict remit we tackle those responsible for the most serious incidents of:

  • Distribution of malicious code
  • Denial of service attack
  • Internet-enabled fraud

This excludes:

  • Routine reporting of cyber-crime.
  • Projects relating to the National Fraud Reporting Centre - Internet reporting of cyber-crime will come under the control of the National Fraud Authority.
  • Those areas of e-crime that fall within the remit of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP).

As an integral part of the ACPO National e-Crime Programme the PCeU is also responsible for co-ordinating the strategic delivery of national cyber-crime projects which include forensics, prevention and training in support of our mission.

Mission

"To increase public confidence and reduce harm to the UK from cyber crime by collaborating with appropriate partners to improve and enhance the mainstream and specialist capabilities of the Police Service and by providing an investigative response, both nationally and internationally, to the most serious incidents."
