Who are the Safer Airport Team?

Welcome to the Safer Airport Team. The team consists of a small number of police officers and community support officers who are dedicated to your terminal. There is a Safer Airport Team for each of the four Heathrow terminals, and one team for London City. They can be contacted on the links below. Each team is posted to the same terminal daily and our aim is to get to know the staff in each of our terminals and build solid long lasting relations. We know that our best business is done face to face and that simply by talking and sharing information and concerns, we can make the airport a safer place. Many of you would not consider calling police to pass on small pieces of information which could be of great value to us. Having a face you know gives you the confidence to pass on that information and makes a huge difference in helping us to gather information and intelligence to prevent crime and terrorism at both airports.

What does the Safer Airport Team do?

There are four Safer Airport Teams across Heathrow Airport in terminals 1, 3, 4 and 5. Our work is split between community and crime but the two go hand in hand. We are intelligence led, conducting reactive and proactive work. We feed any information we receive from you into the intelligence chain and act on information you pass to us. We target persistent offenders including bag thieves, shoplifters and rough sleepers, as well as general and organised criminal activity. We investigate all shopliftings and conduct follow up visits on all retail thefts.
We can offer advice, information and presentations on any number of subjects from home security to hostile reconnaissance. This service is available to all - from individuals to company presentations.

About our service

The most important thing for us is to make sure the police are available to you when you need us, and that you know when to call the Safer Airport Team, rather than the 24 hour response team on duty. Call the Heathrow Police Control Room 0203 276 1460 for an immediate 24/7 response to any incident on either London City or Heathrow Airport or to report suspicious activity where a suspect is present or nearby. (Please put this number in your mobile phone). Contact us to seek advice, report suspicious activity where the suspect is not present or nearby, or to pass on information.

We will speak with your company contacts a minimum of once a month in person to ensure that we do not lose the good relationships we have developed. This will also give you a regular opportunity to voice concerns to police when you have a problem affecting the smooth running of your business or staff.

We will use electronic means far more, to give you up to date information of relevance and importance to you, without intrusion on your daily business. This will include quarterly e-bulletins, as well as messages about crime and offenders which may be of interest to you.

We will also hold quarterly surgeries in each terminal.

How do I contact my team?

Please follow the links below to find out how to contact the Safer Airport Team that covers your terminal. Each terminal team has a mobile phone which will be answered if the team is on duty. A voicemail can be left if there is no answer. We also have a mailbox for each team for email messages.
