Fraud Alert - Company Identity Fraud
20.04.2006
Use of genuine company name - PC SPECIALIST
Fraudsters have hijacked the identity of a genuine company that
trades under the name of PC SPECIALIST, then the fraudsters contacted
various companies across Europe and ordered computer parts, spares
and accessories to be delivered to addresses in London and the
invoices sent to the company’s registered office in Holmfirth,
West Yorks.
It is clear that the fraudsters have taken the PC Specialist
logos and added their own phone and fax numbers and e-mail address.
They have also used logos from Nat West and Halifax banks to support
their orders.
Companies in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Austria have
been taken in by the fraud.
The fact this companies identity was hijack has been passed to
the credit reference agencies such as Experian and Equifax in
September 2005 by Police Liaison at Companies House and are still
‘live’ as far as Dun & Bradstreet are concerned.
It is possible that some of the victim companies might have considered
the delivery addresses to be branch offices and not queried the
different addresses initially, only to be corrected when PC Specialist
contacted them subsequently. If you receive an order from PC Specialist
and delievery is not to their office in Units 20 & 20a, Brockholes
Industrial Estate, Rock Mill Road, Brockholes, Holmfirth, HD9
7BN, then contact the company on 0845 2264036 or fax 0845 226
4046 or email enquiries@pcspecialist.co.uk to confirm the order
is genuine.
