Today, the Metropolitan Police Service employs 31,000 officers, 14,000 police staff, 414 traffic wardens and 4,000 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) as well as being supported by over 2,500 volunteer police officers in the Metropolitan Special Constabulary (MSC) and its Employer Supported Policing (ESP) programme. The Metropolitan Police Services covers an area of 620 square miles and a population of 7.2 million.
This Scheme is set out in two parts:
- Part 1: The Introduction: This sets out the background of the Scheme.
- Part 2: Information Classes: These are the categories of information, which the Freedom of Information Act requires that a Publication Scheme must specify as information the public authority publishes or intends to publish.
- Part 3: Disclosure Log: The Metropolitan Police Service is committed to providing its responses to requests for information as part of the Publication Scheme.
