Examples of how to record your valuables
Take several photographs to show the item from various different angles. Also, include something in the pictures to provide scale to indicate the true size of the object. (Below you can see that a ruler is ideal for this)
With documents, pictures and maps take pictures of both sides of the item and take close ups of any distinctive details. With books, take pictures of key pages and try also to take some close-ups that show the typography.
