Local Charity Christmas Collections (1st - 24th December)

This type of collection is authorised by the Licensing Officer on behalf of the Borough Commander in which the collection is due to be held. All requests must be submitted in writing to the respective Borough Licensing Officer.

Please note that with effect from November 2011 there is no longer a legal requirement for collectors to comply with Section 20(1) of the Charities Regulations - "Participants must be either singing Christmas carols or playing recorded Christmas carols". In these circumstances normal application procedures would apply as per http://www.met.police.uk/charities/streetcollection.htm. In addition to this local charities wishing to collect during this period must reserve a date and submit supporting documents to the Charity Office http://www.met.police.uk/charities/streetcollection.htm by 1st November for approval. If a charity has already made a collection in that year they must ensure that they choose a different Borough to collect in.
