Southwark Cadets celebrate 10th anniversary
Southwark Volunteer Police Cadets celebrated their 10th anniversary at Alleyns School last week and also formally launched their new police cadet unit for Peckham and Dulwich.

Over 60 cadets were on parade from Southwark and were inspected by the Borough Commander Wayne Chance, the Mayor of Southwark Cllr Lorraine Lauder MBE and the Deputy Lieutenant for Southwark Jenny Bianco.
Cadets and staff were presented with a specially commissioned commemorative medal marking their 10th anniversary. There were also a number of ex-cadets in attendance, who came back especially for the evening. Cadets have attended numerous community events since 2002 and just as in previous years have been very busy in 2011 as well. They have supported events such as the Trooping the Colour, the London Marathon, Charity fund raising appeals, the Civic Awards ceremony and the Royal Wedding, as well as for the first time winning one of the major awards at the police cadet championships at Hendon.
The Southwark Police Cadet of The Year award for 2011 went to Cadet George Gorman.
Borough Commander Wayne Chance said: "I am very proud of our police cadet programme in Southwark and all that they have achieved this year. I am delighted our new cadet unit has now launched for Peckham and Dulwich."
Sergeant David Snow said: "Tonight has been a great celebration of 10 years of police cadets and we were pleased so many family and friends were able to join us for this special occasion. I would like to thank all the cadets and staff who have supported our police cadet programme since we started in 2002."
