Charity across MET

Metropolitan Police Cadets from Hillingdon Borough, kindly offered to help run a charity event at Windsor Castle, which raised over £9000 in Total, and over £900 the weekend they helped. The Moat and Gardens, which surrounds William the Conquerors Round Tower, which was built originally in 1066, was opened to the public during the month of August for private tours. Visitors paid a fee for the privilege with all the proceeds going to local charities.

The Cadets were responsible for securing a part of the Castle generally only used by Royalty, and their role extended to acting as stewards, ensuring public safety and collecting money. This experience gave them a direct insight into the other workings of SO14 Royalty Protection, with all the Cadets commenting on how much they enjoyed their days spent at the Castle.

PC Wynne from SO14 Royalty Protection Command said: "The Cadets were ambassadors for the service, meeting tourists from all over the world; they conducted themselves with pride, enthusiasm and professionalism. The feedback received from the charity organisers was full of praise and thanks for these youngsters using their own time to help raise money for charity."
