Anne McMeel, Director of Resources

Anne McMeel, Director of Resources Anne joined the MPS on 14 June 2007 as Director of Resources and has responsibility for finance, procurement, property services, strategy and improvement. With a combined staff of more than 750 she has a lead role in helping the Service manage its £3.6bn budget. She is also increasingly taking a lead role in corporate governance issues.

The postholder is a member of Management Board. One of the key responsibilities of the role is working closely with the MPA Treasurer to fulfil the statutory obligations for the financial affairs of the MPS by ensuring probity, legality and appropriate professional standards in all its financial dealings.

Anne is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance (CIPFA) and was the first woman president of the Society of London Treasurers in 2002. Her career in local government finance started in October 1973 with the Greater London Council where she worked in audit, accounts and housing finance. She has held a series of senior local government posts in the Inner London Education Authority, the London boroughs of Enfield and Sutton and the Greater London Authority where she played a leading rolein the development of regional government in London.

Trying to maintain an appropriate work/life balance is challenging but Anne continues to strive for this goal through various interests including travelling, eating out and going to the theatre and cinema.
